FKC is proud of our accreditation process and the high ideals to which our schools continually strive.  Upon completion of the accreditation process, member schools enjoy many benefits.


Accreditation

·        Five year evaluation cycle by a committee of peer educators

·        Accreditation based on compliance with FKC Standards

·        Co-accreditation with FCIS (Florida Council of Independent Schools) for above grade 3


Legislative

·        As a member of FAANS (Florida Association of Academic Non-public Schools), FKC provides members

         substantive legislative information

·        FCIS/FKC maintain a lobbyist at the state level representing the interests of independent schools

         in the state

·        FCIS Executive Director provides synthesis and analysis of legislative information

·        Liaison with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the Alliance for

         Workforce Innovation (AWI) to keep abreast of VPK and DCF statutes and updates


Professional Development

·        FKC provides member schools affordable, exciting and current workshops, seminars and retreats

·        Examples: FKC State Convention in October, New Teacher Institute in September, Academy for Master

         Teachers, technology and legal seminars, regional topical workshops (Summercore for technology,

         gifted endorsement classes, marine science conference)

·        Opportunity to participate as a team member on FKC evaluation teams

·        Workshop available at FKC Convention on “Preparing your school for an Evaluation”

·        Opportunity to present at the FKC Convention on a topic of research or successful practice

·        FKC Directory : published every two years; distributed to all member schools

·        FKC Bylaws and Accreditation Standards

·        FKC Brochure:  index of all FCIS schools; published and distributed annually

         FKC Annual Conference Program: distributed at the FKC Annual conference
